The Ministry of Prayer – COVID-19

Let us pray for those suffering from the COVID-19 virus

O God, whose compassions fail not, whose faithfulness is new every morning: Draw near, we pray thee, to those who are stricken with sickness and pain.  Ease their discomfort, allay their fears strengthen their faith, be thou their salvation and their peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Let us pray for those who minister to the sick

O Lord Jesus Christ, who alone hast power over life and death, over health and sickness: Give skill, wisdom and gentleness to doctors and nurses and all who minister to the sick; that always bearing about thy presence with them, they may not only heal but bless, and shine as lamps of hope in the darkest hours of distress and fear; who with the Father and the Holy Spirit livest and reignest ever one God, world without end. Amen.

Let us pray for those engaged in medical research

Almighty God, who art the Father of truth and understanding: Shed forth, we beseech thee, upon those engaged in medical research the light of thy heavenly guidance; grant to them the spirit of patient discernment, that they may be skilled to discover the way of health and healing; and strengthen them with the assurance that they are fellow-workers together with thee; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Let us pray for all the faithful departed

Receive, O Lord, in tranquillity and peace, the souls of thy servants who, out of this present life, have departed to be with thee.  Grant them rest, and place them in the habitations of life, the abodes of blessed spirits; and give them the life that knoweth not age, the good things that pass not away; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Let us pray for those who mourn

Grant, O Lord, to all who are bereaved, the spirit of faith and courage, that they may have the strength to meet the days to come with steadfastness and patience; not sorrowing as those without hope, but in thankful remembrance of thy great goodness in past years, and in the sure expectation of a joyful reunion in the heavenly places; and this we ask in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

And, finally, let us pray for our nation and for ourselves

O God our Father, who hast led our nation wondrously in ages past: We thank thee for the guidance of thy overruling providence; and we pray thee to give us now and in the days to come sure confidence in thee, that in all perplexities we may see thy light, and in hours of weakness may know thy strength; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
